Entries for March 2009
The National Heart to Heart Committee has chosen 32 women from all over the world to attend a special gathering of Heart to Heart Sisters at the national convention in Portland this June. Two of these women, Joy Ikanih and Sara Adetiba, are members of our South Wisconsin District. Both Joy and Sara are from Nigeria.
Another honor for the SWD is that Susan Vang and another woman (Angelina Gomex from the South West District) have been chosen to exclusively man the Heart to Heart booth at the convention. They were chosen because "they are shining examples of women who have gone back to the districts and connected. They will engage the women at the convention."

Heart to Heart Sisters Multicultural Gathering. On March 7, 2009, peoples of many cultures gathered at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church in Milwaukee to worship and to celebrate. Follow the link below to read Jan Dankwardt's description of the day, complete with photographs.
Don't miss a single issue of your favorite LWML Publications! Your Society's (or your single) order of the Quarterly, Christian Life News and Mission Lamp is due this week, March 21! Follow the link below to download the order form from Publications.
Do you know of a mission project that needs funding? South Wisconsin District LWML is funding $195,000 in worthy mission grant projects for the 2008-2010 biennium. We are now accepting applications for the next biennium, 2010-2012. The deadline for applications for mission grants projects is October 31, 2009.
Give This Brochure to Women in Your Church. A new brochure that serves as a great PR piece for our District LWML is now available for you to download from the brochures section of our Publications page. You may want to give it to a friend, relative, pastor, or anyone who would like to know more about our terrific auxiliary for Lutheran Women in Mission.
You might think of it as a 'one-on-one' encouragement, with facts to pique their interest. It also could be put in the tract rack at your church or on a display table on LWML Sunday.
It could be handed out at a society meeting, zone board meeting or zone rally, with the suggestion that each person invite a non-LWML person to your next event. You can give them the brochure so they can take it home and learn about the LWML before they
come.
The brochure is to be printed on both sides of the paper and then folded into thirds.
LOOK! Look for those forms! Registration for the 2009 LWML convention and hotel reservations opens March 2. Send those forms from the winter Lutheran Women’s Quarterly in as soon as possible to receive your first choice, or register online at www.lwml.org. Only three months to go!
